The Edge of the Water, St Mawes — Study
Oil on canvas board, A3. Painted on location at St Mawes as the tide turned on an August afternoon. It was the people at the water’s edge that made me want to paint it — I found myself wondering what each of them was seeing. UK postage included.

Description
Painted on the beach at St Mawes, Cornwall, looking across the mouth of the Percuil River on an August afternoon.
What really caught me wasn’t the view — it was the people standing in it. A family at the water’s edge, a father and daughter sitting on a rock, children paddling. I found myself wondering what they were seeing. Whether they were taking in the same light and water I was, or halfway through a conversation about something else entirely. We were all in the same place and very probably having different experiences.
The tide was going out when I started and had turned and was lapping my feet by the time I finished.
Oil on canvas board, A3 (approximately 42 × 30 cm). Painted entirely on location. Signed.
£450 framed in a white wood floating frame
£350 unframed
