“Flash”

Flash was the first bird I painted since my childhood. Flash lives on a beautiful mountainside in the Black Mountains nr Abergavenny in South East Wales. Flash used to eat out of my hand and often joined me for breakfast. He was the first robin I became friends with and I miss him lots. When I was feeding him he’d look right into my eyes, he had no fear. Every second spent with Flash was special. It was a real privilege getting to know him. He might have been a she, I’ll never know.

I loved painting this portrait. Trying to create the different hues of orange, yellow, brown and pink made time stop for me. This painting is not available but if you would like to commission your own Robin, I’d love to hear from you.
